As the conflict between Russia-Ukraine conflict intensifies, Mars is creaking in another powder keg in Europe.

This is the Balkans!

Or, more accurately, Kosovo in the Balkans.

Kosovo’s recent resurgence has also caught the attention of China.

At the press conference of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 31st, there were two dialogues like this.

Dialogue 1.

TASS: Serbian President Vucic met with Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo yesterday. President Vuchi ? requested Ambassador Chen Bo to convey to the Chinese leadership the request to influence the international community on the Kosovo and Metohija issue. What is China’s comment on this? Can the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provide further information?

Spokesperson Mao Ning: Yesterday, the Chinese Ambassador to Serbia met with Serbian President Vuchi ? at invitation. Both sides exchanged views on issues of common concern.

China and Serbia are comprehensive strategic partners and “staunch friends”. China has always supported Serbia’s efforts to maintain sovereignty and territorial integrity. In the current situation, we should avoid escalating tensions and maintain peace and tranquility in the Western Balkans region.

Dialogue 2.

Bloomberg reporter: Does China support NATO sending more troops to Kosovo to prevent violence in the region? Does China believe that sending more troops really contributes to peace?

Spokesperson Mao Ning: China is highly concerned about relevant developments, supports Serbia’s efforts to maintain sovereignty and territorial integrity, opposes unilateral actions taken by the Provisional Institutions of Self-Government in Pristina, and calls for the implementation of the obligation to form the Serbian City Alliance. NATO should truly respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of relevant countries and do things that are conducive to regional peace.

What does it mean?

The meaning should also be very clear.

1. The situation is very tense, and Serbia feels very aggrieved. Vuchi ? requests China to also exert influence.

2. The Chinese side has a clear attitude, supporting Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and opposing unilateral actions by the Kosovo authorities.

3. China also demands that NATO respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries and truly do things that are conducive to regional peace.

Especially this sentence, ‘truly doing things that are conducive to regional peace’, clearly has a different connotation.

Simply put, it was NATO that initiated the Kosovo War; NATO supports Kosovo’s independence; NATO bears an unshirkable responsibility for the current situation. Now, if Kosovo dares to do this, NATO, do you have no responsibility?

Because things are very clear, the latest trigger is NATO’s indulgence and the reckless actions of the Kosovo authorities.

Kosovo is an autonomous province of the former Federal Republic of Serbia. The Kosovo War of that year will never be forgotten by the Chinese people, and there was also a heartbreaking “embassy bombing”, where three of my journalists died in a NATO missile attack at the embassy.

After the end of the war in June 1999, Kosovo was entrusted to the United Nations. In February 2008, Kosovo unilaterally declared independence, and Western countries recognized it one after another. Many countries such as Russia, China, Greece refused to recognize it, while Serbia has always insisted on its sovereignty over Kosovo.

The elections in the Kosovo Serb region in April this year were completely boycotted by the Serbs, but the Kosovo authorities insisted on holding them, with a voter turnout of 3.5%. Naturally, the Albanian mayor was elected. Then, the Kosovo authorities forcibly escorted the new mayor to take office.

Is it an international joke to elect a mayor with a 3.5% voting rate and manage the entire Serb region? Can the Serbs accept it?

The result was a fierce and bloody conflict.

The violent conflict resulted in a large number of injuries, including more than 30 NATO soldiers. The explosive situation forced NATO to announce that it would send more troops to the region.

You should know that there have been relevant agreements in the West before, with French President Macron and German Prime Minister Schultz participating in mediation, but the agreement was torn up by the Kosovo authorities. Where is the West?

So, this time, the West can’t bear to watch anymore. The United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and almost all Western powers have taken the opposite direction of Kosovo.

On May 31st, Makron also strongly condemned that the Kosovo authorities had violated the agreement and were “responsible” for the deterioration of the situation.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who once said publicly that the Kosovo authorities were irresponsible and “caused a sharp and unnecessary escalation of tensions”, would affect US Kosovo relations.

The US Ambassador to Kosovo, Hovenir, directly stated that Kosovo will be expelled from the ongoing “Defender 23” multinational military exercise. “For Kosovo, this exercise has come to an end

At the same time, Serbia is also fully attacking.

President Vuchi ? publicly vowed, “We will maintain peace – but I tell you, Serbia will not sit idly by while Serbs in northern Kosovo are attacked

In addition to ordering his troops to be on maximum alert, he also sought help from countries such as China. This matter is too unorthodox, China. To be fair, please.

So, there is China’s solemn statement mentioned above.

Alas, we often say: fairness is at the mercy of the people. But in this real world, sometimes it has to be said that fairness values strength more. Otherwise, the situation in Kosovo will not degenerate into what it is now, and Serbia will not be so restrained.

It should be noted that this incident has a public impact on the West, and Kosovo can achieve independence. So why can’t Donbas? Moreover, a small regime that has completely supported itself is simply disobedient, does not comply with agreements, and even turns against the West.

What is this? Pick up a stone and hit yourself in the foot?

It’s just that in a powder keg like the Balkans, this kind of Mars’ chaotic movement is too dangerous. After being unbearable, it’s time to start large-scale operations. A Russia-Ukraine conflict has already left the whole world in a mess. What kind of disaster will it be for Europe and the West if there is another Kosovo war?

No wonder the West is really a bit anxious this time.

Alas, if I had known today earlier, why should I have known it earlier? In this world, if you come out to mess around, you always have to pay back.
