Dad or husband?
If a woman is asked such a question, she may not be able to answer it for the moment. It’s like a girl in love often asks her boyfriend, “if your mother and I fall into the water at the same time, who will you save first?” I’m afraid the boy had to scratch his head and ears and didn’t know how to answer.
The first person who raised this question was a woman from the state of Zheng named Yongji.
Yong Ji followed her husband’s surname, and her husband’s name was yong Jiu, a doctor of the state of Zheng. Yong Ji’s father, Ji Zhong, is an old minister of the four dynasties of Zheng Wu Gong, Zheng Zhuang Gong, Zheng Zhao Gong and Zheng Li Gong. It’s not too much to describe his deep-rooted position in the state of Zheng.
According to Mr. Feng Menglong, Yong Ji’s husband Yong Jiu is also a person with a background. At that time, Yong, the powerful minister of the state of song, kidnapped Ji Zhong and forced him to make his son Tu king. By the way, he stuffed this son named Yong Jiu to Ji Zhong as his son-in-law. According to this statement, Yong Jiu is likely to be an uncle or cousin of Gongzi Tu (that is, Zheng Ligong).
As mentioned earlier, Zheng Ligong was able to come to power with the support of Ji Zhong. But if we look at the whole story of this matter, it is not difficult to see that there is not much affection between Zheng Ligong and Ji Zhong, but two grasshoppers tied to the same rope, who have to cooperate.
When the regime was stable and Song Zhuang Gong, the behind the scenes manipulator, could no longer threaten them, the contradictions between the two people soon exposed.
Zheng Ligong was a good hand in war, but he was in the learning stage in politics. Ji Zhong, who has been in officialdom for decades, is already a political veteran. When the two fought, Ji Zhong obviously gained the upper hand.
“Zuo Zhuan” book and this matter, only three words: “sacrifice Zhongzhuan.” Monopoly is dictatorship, tyranny, domineering, disobedience. In our popular language, it is the crime of bullying the monarch.
With Zheng Ligong’s character, how can he endure such a situation?
One warm spring day, Zheng Ligong was playing in the back garden and sighed when he saw birds playing on the branches. (as the camera moves with his eyes, the background music slowly rises, and begins to appear as if there were nothing, gradually and clearly. At a certain decibel, it stops rising and tends to be flat. That’s Jay Chou’s “stage”: “your tears, weak and wounded, the pale moon bends, hook the past…” I forgot to tell you that the image of Zheng Ligong is Jay Chou’s “golden armor all over the city” in my impression The image in is a little worried, frowning, but it contains strength.)
With him walking in the garden, only doctor Yong Jiu. Seeing this, Yong Jiu stepped forward: “spring is warm and flowers are blooming, the wind is gentle, and birds are crowing. Why is the Lord so worried that he is not happy at all?”
Zheng Ligong glanced at him casually and said, “birds can fly and sing as they like. They are very free. People are not as good as birds if they want to compare.”
Yong Chu said, “what you worry about is the person who controls the government?”
Zheng Ligong looked back at him and waited for him to say.
“I heard that kings and ministers are like father and son. If you have anything unhappy, you can tell me that I should be loyal and work for you.”
Zheng Li Gong showed an imperceptible smile at the corner of his mouth: “it seems that you have an idea.”
“Of course I have ideas.”
“The problem is, that man is your old father-in-law.”
“Between you and your father-in-law, I am firmly on your side.”
Zheng Ligong thought for a moment and said, “the old man has been very strict since he was kidnapped. I’m afraid it’s hard to start.”
“It’s easy to do. When he leaves the city for sacrifice, I’ll give him a ride with poisonous wine.”
The son-in-law toasts his father-in-law, of course, will not be suspected. This plan is feasible. Zheng Ligong nodded and promised, and told him to be careful.
Ji is a good plan, but I really don’t understand why Yong Jiu disclosed it to his wife.
When her wife got the news, her first thought was not to tell her father, but to go to her mother and ask the question mentioned earlier: “Mom, do you say, dad or husband?” According to her idea, if mom says “husband kisses”, she will cover her mouth and stop talking. The old lady curled her lips: “it’s needless to say, of course, it’s dad.”
“Why?”
The old lady said a sentence that was enough to make everyone fall down. In order to maintain the original flavor, I directly excerpted this sentence from Zuo Zhuan:
“A man is a man, but a father.”
There is only one father in all people.
There are some reasons, but the four words “people do their best” make people can’t help but spit.
Yong Ji suddenly realized, and quickly told her husband’s plot to her father.
The next morning, a floating corpse was found in the pond of the Zhou family, a doctor of the state of Zheng. Although it was bloody, someone still identified it as the corpse of doctor Yong Jiu.
Zhou hurried to the palace to report to Zheng Ligong.
Zheng Ligong personally drove the carriage to the pond of the Zhou family to have a look. Without saying a word, he took Yong Jiu’s body into the car and disappeared under the gaze of many eyes.
In the situation at that time, walking was the best plan, and he would never be sloppy.
“If you plan on a woman, you should die.” This is his evaluation of Yong Jiu, which means that such an important thing should be known by a woman, and she deserves to die. However, he still took Yong Ju’s body and found a place to bury it. Since Yong Ju died for him, he would not abandon Yong Ju, even if it was just a corpse.
For this reason alone, there is still his stage in the world.
In 697 BC, Ji Hu, the former monarch of the state of Zheng, returned to Xinzheng and became the master of the state of Zheng again. Of course, all this is the arrangement of Mr. Ji zhonglao.
As the saying goes, once the son of heaven and a courtier, when Zheng Zhaogong came back, Ji Zhong had already done the official work of the monarch of Five Dynasties. Whether in terms of age or energy, he is obviously old.
I don’t know that Zheng Zhaogong didn’t express such feelings as “Liu Lang came again in the past”, but I’m sure he couldn’t help feeling mixed when he looked at Ji Zhong, who was still humble in front of him.
Four years ago, it was the old man in front of him who helped himself to the throne of the monarch. Before his ass was hot, he was driven out of office again; Four years later, he sent someone to take him back from the state of Wei and sat on the throne again. Whether to choose or not, it seems that all are in the hands of the old man.
He didn’t say much to Ji Zhong, just patted him on the shoulder and said, “it’s hard.”
Ji Zhong lowered his head and burst into tears.
Who works hard? Zheng Zhaogong worked hard, or did Ji Zhong work hard? Perhaps living in this age of broken etiquette and music, everyone is very hard.
There is no doubt that Zheng Zhaogong and Zheng Ligong are not good at playing with power. He is very simple, even a little stubborn. Otherwise, he will not refuse Qi Hou’s kindness to marry his daughter to him twice. He always seems to be confused that since he was born in Gongqing’s family, marriage is politics, which has little to do with love and personal integrity.
If I married a princess of the state of Qi at that time, I don’t think I would have lived in exile for these four years, would I? The state of song could not risk war with the state of Qi to engage in such a conspiracy. In that case, not only will I be free from the suffering of being displaced, but also the state of Zheng will not be in chaos, and the reputation of my father Zheng zhuanggong will not be damaged… In short, everything will be different.
Although there is no ifs in this world, I still want to say that if he knew what the end would be for Duke Lu Huan, who had brought a beauty back from the state of Qi, he probably wouldn’t regret it.
In 706 BC, the fourth year after Duke Huan of Lu married Wenjiang, their sons were born together. Duke Huan of Lu attached great importance to this son. According to the records of Zuo Zhuan, “the eldest son was given the gift of birth, followed by the prison, the diviner took it, and the scholar’s wife ate it…” in short, a quite grand ceremony was held, carefully welcoming the future monarch to the world.
“The mother dotes on her son”, Duke Huan of Lu treats Tong’s birth so seriously, which is related to Wen Jiang’s being favored and that Wen Jiang is the daughter of marquis Qi.
Here is a question: since Wenjiang is so popular, why did she get married for several years and then get pregnant and have children? With the medical knowledge of that era, they probably won’t take any effective contraceptive measures, and it’s unnecessary. There is only one answer. Duke Lu Huan is not diligent enough.
The wife is beautiful and the husband is not diligent enough, so it is easy to have problems, even in the vassal family.
According to Mr. Feng Menglong, when Wen Jiang was in the state of Qi, she flirted with her son zhu’er (that is, her half brother) and had an ambiguous relationship. Wen Jiang married to the state of Lu, and zhu’er once gave it to each other in a poem. The poem said, “peaches have flowers, and their rosy clouds are bright. When you are at home, you can’t fold them, but float them to tho. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.” Wen Jiang also said in a poem, “peach has English, Ye has its spirit. This time, I will not break, and there will be no spring! I will remind you again and again.”
From the heart, the poem is well written. But considering that this underground love affair is an affair between brothers and sisters, it’s a little changed.
After the death of Duke Qi, zhu’er ascended the throne, that is, Duke Qi Xianggong in history.
In 694 BC, Duke Huan of Lu went to the parliament of Qi to meet with Duke Xiang of Qi. His purpose of this trip was two: first, last year, the armies of Qi and Lu had a small-scale conflict on the border, and he hoped to eliminate the misunderstanding between the two sides through the meeting; The second is that the son of Zhou wants to marry his daughter to Duke Qi Xianggong and appoint him as the wedding host. Therefore, he wants to discuss with Duke Qi Xianggong about organizing the wedding.
Wen Jiang learned the news and asked to go back to the state of Qi to visit relatives with Duke Huan of Lu.
From the perspective of modern people, this requirement was reasonable, but at that time, it was an “indecent” thing, which was opposed by the ministers of the state of Lu. Lu Huan came to spoil Wenjiang from the Gregorian calendar. He couldn’t bear to see her unhappy, so he took her away.
Marquis Qi and Marquis Lu met at Luo (Luo Si Sheng), and the host and the guest talked happily. All the misunderstandings that should be eliminated were eliminated, and the marriage between Zhou Tianzi and the Marquis Qi family was also settled. Wen Jiang saw Zhu Er’s brother, who had been missing for a long time, and remembered the poem “huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhu” in those years. He didn’t feel that the old love had relapsed. The two people were dry and burning, and they lit up when they met.
Think about it, Wenjiang was about thirty-five or six years old, which was like a wolf; Although Qi Xianggong also had three palaces and six courtyards, his wife was not as good as his concubine, his concubine was not as good as his prostitute, and his prostitute was not as good as stealing, not to mention his own sister? In Guodegang’s words, “my God, it’s so exciting!” If Lanling Xiaoxiao was born to write this story, he must have written it with passion, but old Mr. Zuo Qiuming was obviously not so interested, so he used four dry words: “Qi Hou Tongyan.” Communication is adultery. If you have no culture, you don’t know what happened at all.
Maybe the two of them went too far, and this matter was even known to Duke Lu Huan. Wu Dalang is still angry when he wears a green hat, not to mention being the king of a country? Duke Huan of Lu was very angry, but in the land of the state of Qi, the hero didn’t suffer immediate losses and didn’t find Qi Xiang to settle accounts. He just scolded Wenjiang in the hotel.
Obviously, Duke Huan of Lu and Wu Dalang both made the same mistake: wearing a green hat, they dared not face their adulterer directly, so they had to take it out on the woman.
According to the records of Water Margin, Wu Dalang found that Pan Jinlian and XiMenqing were having an affair. He couldn’t fight XiMenqing after thinking about it. He went home and scolded Pan Jinlian: “what you did, I personally caught you and raped you, but you provoked the adulterer to kick my heart. So far, I’m not willing to live, but I’m not willing to die, but you’re happy! I’m not willing to die, and I can’t argue with you. My brother Wu Er, you need to know his character. If he comes back sooner or later, he will quit?” Pan Jinlian conveyed this to XiMenqing. The two men made a total. Instead of waiting for Wu Er to come back and trouble them, they might as well start first and poison Wu Da.
After Duke Huan of Lu scolded Wenjiang, Wenjiang also ran to Duke Xiang of Qi and told him about the scolding. Qi Xianggong’s idea is the same as XiMenqing’s: it’s better to kill people than wait for Duke Lu Huan to return home and talk nonsense.
Qi Xiang Public Security Bureau arranged a grand banquet to entertain Duke Lu Huan. At the banquet, the ministers of the state of Qi kept toasting Duke Huan of Lu. Duke Huan of Lu was in a bad mood. He just drowned his worries with alcohol and was soon drunk. Duke Qi Xiang ordered his son Peng Sheng to drive Duke Lu Huan back to the hotel. Peng Sheng was a famous Hercules in the state of Qi. On the way, he strained the ribs of Duke Huan of Lu. Duke Huan of Lu was so indistinct “Hong”. The spring and Autumn Annals simply records: “in summer and April, Bingzi, the Duke Hongyu Qi.” And Zuo Zhuan just said vaguely: “(Marquis of Qi) made the son Peng Sheng ride the public, and the public was Hongyu in the car.” Translated into modern language: Duke of Qi sent his son Peng Sheng to drive for Duke Huan of Lu, who died in the car.
It was clearly murdered. Why should the history books be so secretive?
First, Duke Huan of Lu took Wenjiang to visit the state of Qi, which was originally an “indecent” act, for which he should be responsible.
Second, Duke Huan of Lu visited the state of Qi in the first month of the month and was killed in April. He lingered in the state of Qi for more than three months and ignored domestic political affairs, which was another crime.
Third, the death of Duke Huan of Lu was related to the green hat. The so-called family disgrace should not be publicized. People in Lu always feel embarrassed and difficult to write about the history of the monarch.
Duke Huan of Lu died vaguely, and the ministers of the state of Lu at that time had a more ambiguous attitude towards this matter. They sent an ambiguous diplomatic note to Marquis Qi, which roughly meant that: the head of state of our country was afraid of your tiger power, and did not dare to sit at home and come to your country to repair it. When things were done, he could not return to his country, and he did not know who to look for to be responsible. As a result, our country was very shameless in front of all countries. Please kill your son Peng Sheng, or let us have an account with all countries.
This note stuttered, and the foreword didn’t match the Afterword. It was a bit like seeking justice, but it was afraid of the other party’s bullying. It was a bit like pointing fingers at thorns and curses, but it wanted to say it again. It could be called a wonderful article in the diplomatic history of the spring and Autumn period. When Qi Xianggong received this note, he was unequivocal and killed his son Peng Sheng as a scapegoat, which was a statement to the people of Lu.
Duke Huan of Lu and the son of Wenjiang ascended the throne together, that is, Duke Zhuang of Lu in history.
For one thing, Wen Jiang missed the happiness of meeting with Qi Xiang Gongsi, and for another, he had no face to return to the state of Lu to meet people, so he simply settled down in the state of Qi. In those years, the spring and Autumn Annals and Zuo Zhuan frequently recorded the scandals of Wen Jiang’s adultery with the Duke of Qi:
“There is February on winter 10th, and madam Jiang meets Hou Yuzhen.” (Zhuang Gong’s second year)
“Madame Jiang enjoys the honor of being a marquis in zhuqiu.” (Zhuang Gong’s fourth year)
“Xia, madam Jiang Shi is like Qi Shi.” (five years of Zhuang Gong)
“In the spring of the seventh year, madam Jiang’s family met together and waited in defense.” (seven years of Zhuang Gong)
“In winter, madam Jiang’s family will gather and wait for Gu.” (seven years of Zhuang Gong)
……
Where is this cheating? It’s simply a stick of fire!
I’m a little skeptical about whether the people of Lu sent a paparazzi to stare at Wen Jiang and report directly to the historian of Lu as soon as there is information, and then put it on record.
If you don’t say it face-to-face, you’ll have to put it in the annals of history. This can be seen from the vulnerable psychology of the people of the state of Lu towards the people of the state of Qi.
Caught in the middle is Lu zhuanggong. It’s really difficult for him to bear the pain of losing his father and bury his thoughts of his mother. In 690 BC, the 17-year-old Duke of Lu Zhuang secretly crossed the border and went to the land of Qi to hunt with the Marquis of Qi. When it comes to hunting, I actually want to visit my mother ginger. The historian of the state of Lu was dissatisfied with this, so it was recorded in the spring and Autumn Annals that “in winter, Gongqi and Renshou (Zhuo Ersheng).” It is certainly an “indecent” act to cross the border to hunt with the people of the state of Qi. However, the feeling of licking calves between mother and son can’t be extinguished by the word “ceremony”? In 689 BC, Qi, Lu and other countries joined forces to defend the country. “Madam Jiang Shi was like Qi Shi”, on the one hand, to meet with Qi Xiang Gong, on the other hand, I’m afraid, to see his son.
Both lusting for physical pleasure and missing his son from a foreign country, this peerless beauty Wenjiang is devoid of skills. “Zuo Zhuan” recorded that “in the spring of the seventh year, the wife Jiang met and waited in defense”, and then: “in summer, the stars disappeared, and the night was bright. The meteorites were like rain, and they also accompanied the rain.”
It reads like a little song with a touch of sadness.
Compared with Qi Jiang’s *, the story of her sister Xuan Jiang is also sad.
People with a good memory may still remember that after the Zhou Xu rebellion of the state of Wei, the people of the state of Wei welcomed the Son Jin as the monarch, that is, Duke Xuan of Wei.
“Zuo Zhuan” records, “Wei Xuangong (Zheng) Yu Yi Jiang.” Yi Jiang is Wei zhuanggong’s concubine, that is, Wei Xuangong’s concubine. In modern market language, it is the so-called little mother. Duke Xuan of Wei had an affair with Yi Jiang, which was called “Ji” at that time. In Zuo Zhuan, we will also see the word “Ji” many times. Its specific meaning is “Shangyin”, that is, the younger generation with male surname commits adultery with female elders. Think about it. In the spring and Autumn period, it was normal for princes to marry more than a dozen concubines, and it was not surprising that princes’ energy was limited. Coupled with their advanced age, concubines were long open and were killed by their sons.
Wei Xuangong not only killed Yi Jiang, but also gave birth to an illegitimate son named Jizi, who was fostered in the folk. After Wei Xuangong ascended the throne, he simply lived a husband and wife life with Yi Jiang, so he also brought Ji Zi back from the people and entrusted him to childe training. When Jizi grew up, he proposed to Duke Qi (then Duke Qi) for him and married xuanjiang, the eldest daughter of Duke Qi.
Xuanjiang, like Wenjiang, is a gorgeous beauty for a while. When Wei Xuangong saw such a beautiful daughter-in-law, he was already in a trance, and he didn’t care about any shame. He was the first to seize his daughter-in-law again. At that time, someone wrote a poem “Xintai” satirizing Wei Xuangong:
“There are three tones of Ci in the new platform, and the river is full of water. Yan Wan’s request, the two tones of Qu Chu, is not uncommon. The establishment of fish nets, the Hong is away from it. Yan Wan’s request, get this kind of alms.”
It means that Xuan Jiang was carrying a flower, but it was inserted on the pile of cow dung of Wei Xuangong.
Wei Xuangong got Xuan Jiang, his daughter-in-law, and forgot his little mother Yi Jiang. He had two sons with Xuan Jiang in a row, one named Shou and the other named Shuo, and ordered the son Xie to be responsible for the cultivation of these two sons.
Yi Jiang couldn’t stand being left out and hanged himself.
In our view, Xuan Jiang is undoubtedly a tragic figure. But her tragedy is not only that she married Wei Xuangong, who should have become her father-in-law, but also that after she gave birth to two sons, she was wholeheartedly thinking about how to make her son the heir of the state of Wei. For this reason, she was eager to remove the stumbling block of Ji Zi (that is, the person who should have become her husband), and even unscrupulous.
For this reason, she and her youngest son Shuo always speak ill of Jizi in front of Wei Xuangong. The most outrageous one was that after Jizi got drunk, he actually called childe Shuo “son”, and said that Xuan Jiang should have been his wife, and childe Shuo should have called him father.
If Ji Zi really said such words, he was not wrong. However, according to records, Jizi is a very docile person, and he never resents his father’s forcible robbery of his daughter-in-law. Seeing Xuan Jiang is always respectful, such as the gift of mother and son. It is obviously impossible to say these words in his mouth.
Although Wei Xuangong *, he still knows his son better, so he is noncommittal about Xuan Jiang’s crying.
After a few days, Duke Xuan of Wei sent urgent son to the state of Qi. Xuanjiang and childe Shuo got the news and decided to send someone to intercept and assassinate him on the way.
This information let xuanjiang’s eldest son gongzishou know. He was deeply ashamed of his mother’s behavior, and told Jizi overnight to run away quickly.
Anxious son smiled calmly: “it’s the task assigned by my father to go to the state of Qi. If I abandon my father’s life, what do I need my son to do? You say, does there exist a country without a father in this world? If so, I can escape there.”
You can laugh at his pedantry, but you can’t laugh at his calmness. This is the silent struggle of people born in troubled times against the absurd troubled times, and their attitude of death at home is convincing.
“In that case,” said childe Shou, “brother is going on a long trip. Please allow me to prepare some thin wine to send him away.”
The two brothers set their seats by the river. They drank wine to Jizi and drank three cups and five cups. Jizi didn’t feel depressed and drunk. When he woke up, Prince Shou had put on his clothes, held his guard of honor, and left by boat.
Anxi Zi cried: “I don’t want to live in this world at all. Why can’t Shou, a fool, understand!” He hurried aboard to catch up.
The assassins who ambushed in the reeds saw that Prince shouzai came under the banner of Jizi, mistakenly thinking it was Jizi himself, swarmed up and chopped him into meat sauce.
When Ji Zi arrived, the assassins had not retreated. Ji Zi stood in the bow of the boat and shouted, “come and kill me, I’m the one you want to kill!”
What are you waiting for? You can’t miss it.
There is a poem of “riding on a boat” in the bookofsongs Wei Feng, which is said to write about this matter: “two sons ride on a boat, generalize their scenery, wish to say that they think of their son, and raise them in the center. Two sons ride on a boat, generalize their death, and wish to say that they think of their son, which is not harmful.”
When I saw this story, I just remembered the poem of Beidao: nobility is the epitaph of nobility, and meanness is the pass of meanness. On a case by case basis, I would like to add: nobility is actually a very helpless thing in many cases.
The greatest beneficiary of the death of Jizi and Shou is childe Shuo. He and Xuan Jiang originally only wanted to kill Jizi, but they didn’t expect Lian Shou, a compatriot brother, to join in. He was the next monarch of the state of Wei.
After the death of Duke Wei Xuan, Prince Shuo succeeded to the throne as he wished, and was called Duke Wei Hui in history. However, the people of the state of Wei did not forget what he did to Jizi and Shou. In 696 BC, the fourth year after Duke Wei Huigong came to power, Duke Zhi and Duke Xie launched a coup, made Prince Qian Mou king, and Duke Wei Huigong fled to the state of Qi.
“Zuo Zhuan” records: Xuan Jiang’s two sons, one of whom was killed and the other escaped, still lived a very natural and unrestrained life. As if nothing had happened, she committed obstinate adultery with another son of Duke Wei Xuan and gave birth to a bunch of children.
This relationship is really too messy.
