Recently, the United States has been clamoring to maintain smooth communication channels with China.

However, at the same time, the United States has not made a substantive response to China’s proposal to establish mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation between China and the United States. The United States either does not respond to the bottom line and red line drawn by China on some major and core issues, or speaks falsely, saying one thing and doing another.

Many people are asking, “Do the United States really want to talk to China

The answer to this question is: “Yes, it’s not

The current positioning or reference frame set by the United States for US China relations is the Cold War era US Soviet relations.

During the Cold War, no matter how much argument the United States and the Soviet Union had, or even through proxy wars, communication remained between the United States and the Soviet Union.

For the United States, it is very familiar with and comfortable with this kind of major country relationship.

Although this kind of major country relationship is essentially not good, in the event of any major crisis, US officials can pick up the phone and find someone who can clearly state the US position and understand the other party’s position.

In other words, when there is a crisis, the United States knows what the worst-case scenario is.

On the contrary, if communication channels are not smooth, when a crisis occurs, the United States will feel very uneasy when facing a “black box”.

This is the fundamental reason why the United States needs to maintain smooth communication channels with China while containing and suppressing it.

Essentially, the United States has already acknowledged the reality of poor US China relations and the possibility of major crises at any time. What the United States needs to do is not fundamentally improve the US China relationship, but to ensure that when a crisis occurs, the United States can find people to talk to China and avoid situations that the United States considers unpredictable.

From this, it can be seen that the United States’ setting of the current US China relationship is very negative and lacks ambition.

On the other hand, the United States seeks to communicate with China while containing and suppressing China. It also intends to force China to accept this New Normal of US China relations.

Relatively speaking, China’s setting of Sino US relations is much more positive, more in line with common sense, and more in line with the expectations of the international community.

If China and the United States can establish a major country relationship of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, it will not only be beneficial for both countries, but also for the world.

The biggest problem now is that the United States does not want to “get along well” with China.

The United States believes that “getting along well with China” means watching China surpass the United States and watching US hegemony decline, which is something the United States cannot accept at this stage.

But it is very interesting that the United States’ containment and suppression of China will actually accelerate China’s “rise” and ultimately accelerate the decline of the United States.

On the way to escape fate, one always encounters it unexpectedly

This sentence also applies to the United States.

In the current situation, we need to maintain rational expectations for talks at all levels between China and the United States.

On the one hand, talking is better than not talking.

On the other hand, we should not expect that the United States will fundamentally change its current policy towards China during the talks.

For Chinese netizens, they also need to gradually adapt to this state of Sino US relations.

For a considerable period of time in the future, it will be the norm for China and the United States to “talk about fighting and fighting”.

For us, the same sentence applies: ‘If you want to talk, we welcome you; if you want to fight, we will accompany you.’

At present, China US relations also apply the famous saying in international relations: “What cannot be obtained on the battlefield, let alone at the negotiation table

Today, China US relations do not have a general sense of “battlefield”, but there are many “battlefields” that determine the direction of the China US talks. It is precisely the performance of China US in these “battlefields” that determines the direction of the talks:

——The governance effectiveness of China and the United States in China, especially in terms of economic development, technological progress, industrial upgrading, and social stability, is dominated by whoever develops better;

——In the diplomatic game between China and the United States in the international community, whoever has more friends and whose ideas have more appeal will have the advantage.

For this reason, we may as well maintain a calm attitude towards the situation of “talking, fighting, and talking” between China and the United States today and in the future.

Today’s China has enough strength to truly achieve the goal of “having good wine when friends come, and having hunting rifles when wolves come”.

On this basis, we can do our own things steadfastly.

The game between China and the United States is a lasting war, and we have confidence and patience to ultimately crush the containment and suppression of the United States and achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
