This afternoon, Ma Yingjiu arrived at the Shanghai airport and headed directly to Nanjing to begin his trip to the mainland.

??

These days, I have seen various views on the Chinese Internet. This time, people in the mainland have low political expectations for Ma Yingjiu to come to the mainland in the name of ancestor worship. On the whole, some people mainly hope that he can reflect on the previous “non unification” policy and support reunification with a clearer attitude. If he had come to the mainland ten years ago, the situation would have been very different.

One of the reasons for this change is not that Ma Yingjiu is no longer on stage and has no power in his hands, but that he is disappointed with his performance during his tenure.

The mainland is not so snobbish. When Nixon stepped down due to the Watergate incident, his influence in the United States was no longer comparable. However, due to his contributions to the easing of Sino US relations on stage, the leaders at that time still decided to extend an invitation to Nixon and provide him with a high-level reception.

What mainland people value is what you did on stage? If he has done something beneficial to China’s reunification on stage, or at least made significant efforts, even if he is not on stage, he will still enjoy a warm welcome from the people when he comes to the mainland.

But what did Ma Yingjiu do during his tenure?

In her first term of office, Lai Xingyuan, a Taiwan independence activist, was appointed as the “chairman” of the Mainland Affairs Commission responsible for cross-strait relations. This is no different from reusing thieves to look at warehouses. It is equivalent to setting brake pads for improving cross-strait relations.

What makes the mainland people even more indignant is that Ma Yingjiu has not done anything to rectify the Democratic Progressive Party curriculum that has poisoned Taiwan’s youth. “He is not unified nor independent, and it has been proven that” non unified “means rejecting unity and pursuing the reality of independence, while” non independent “means not pursuing the name of independence.”.

Ma Yingjiu, who had been placed high hopes, thus missed the golden time of eight years. Under his administration, the Taiwan independence forces in Taiwan continued to develop greatly, and the Taiwan independence tendency became even more serious. Not only does the Democratic Progressive Party continue to pursue explicit independence, but the Kuomintang also openly and semi openly pursues implicit independence.

After the fall of Ma Yingjiu, the “falling pillar” storm within the Kuomintang led to the concerted efforts of the members to pull Hong Xiuzhu, the only public supporter of reunification, off the horse, giving the mainland public a thorough understanding of the Kuomintang’s dark independence field. Since then, the Chinese people have lost interest in Taiwan’s regional elections. Even many people believe that rather than allowing the Kuomintang, which pursues secluded independence, to come to power and oppose reunification, but also want the benefits of the mainland, it has no essential difference from the Democratic Progressive Party in the issue of independence, and it also confuses the mainland. Just like the difference between Yue Buqun and Zuo Lengchan, villains are always easier to guard against than hypocrites, serving the public and violating the public, which is more unacceptable than overt betrayal.

The second reason is that the discourse power of mainland public awareness and national fans is completely different from that of ten years ago.

During his tenure, Ma Yingjiu held high expectations for the public knowledge of the mainland. His cross-strait exchanges are open to the public. At that time, the public knowledge of the Internet on the mainland had a strong voice. Most of the public knowledge on the mainland were against reunification, which might also have given Ma Ying jeou a wrong judgment, making him more confident to wait for change. If the public knew that the final say and listened to the Americans most, wouldn’t Taiwan’s independence have a chance?

During his tenure, Ma Yingjiu invited well-known representatives from the mainland to Taiwan. The sentence “The most beautiful scenery in Taiwan is people” was written by Han Han during this trip. According to media reports, Ma Yingjiu not only shook hands with him for as long as five seconds, but also repeatedly said, “I’ve heard so much about you.”

That was 2012, when the well-known online discourse power in the mainland reached its peak. At that time, let alone Han Han, it was Pan Shiyi, who had a special appeal on the internet. Xue Manzi was not arrested either, and he still enjoyed the wonderful feeling of “reviewing the memorial” on Weibo.

Ma Yingjiu probably didn’t expect that within a few years, the public awareness of the mainland began to become a street mouse, and the greatest hope of waiting for change became increasingly slim.

Han Han’s words were often used to praise Taiwan for several years, but they have really disappeared in recent years.

Over the years, the people of the mainland have also increased their discrimination in various forms of performance for Taiwan independence, whether it be Ming or Dark independence. The increasing tendency towards independence on the island not only cannot shake the will of the mainland people to reunify, but also increases their expectations for reunification, which only increases the support of the mainland people for reunification (including promoting reunification through military means).

The 23 million people in Taiwan cannot determine the fate of Taiwan at all. Taiwan belongs to China, and the fate of Taiwan is determined by all Chinese people.

Even some Taiwanese politicians now understand that one country, two systems is Taiwan’s best choice. Rejecting one country, two systems will leave no choice in the future.

People on the mainland are increasingly confident in reunification. The initiative is already on the mainland, and it is not the mainland that is becoming increasingly anxious, but the Taiwan independence forces, as well as the United States and Japan behind them. Looking at the current political programs in Taiwan, how many people do you really think there are who can have hope by relying on Taiwan independence in the United States? America can be trusted, and pigs can climb trees.

As an active practitioner of “no unity, no independence, no martial arts”, Ma Yingjiu has lost the opportunity to establish an important historical position in the Chinese nation. History treated him well and gave him eight years, but he didn’t cherish it. This visit to the mainland has not greatly helped his historical position.

Ma Yingjiu’s visit to the mainland coincides with the time period during which Tsai Ing-wen is going to visit the United States. Some people therefore doubt whether it will serve as a cover for Tsai Ing-wen? Fortunately, not many people on the mainland have pinned their hopes for reunification on the Kuomintang. The “non unification” state of not seeking the name of Taiwan independence but only the reality of Taiwan independence cannot continue indefinitely due to the arrival of Ma Yingjiu.

??

It is difficult to persuade someone to take out Ma Yingjiu’s father Ma Heling’s words about “transforming independence into unification” and wash Ma Yingjiu white. During Ma Yingjiu’s tenure, he did not take any positive action to promote independence. Wu Dunyi and Zhu Lilun, whom he held in high esteem, were both opposed to reunification. Facts have shown that Ma Yingjiu not only failed the Chinese nation, but also violated his father’s wishes.

I would rather expect the mainland’s current post 00s students, if they can freely play, to ask Ma Yingjiu in person what kind of questions?
