The God of wine in ancient Indian mythology later evolved into the title of moon god. “Sumo” was originally a kind of vine. After soaking its stem in water, extract the yellow juice with stone, filter it through a wool sieve, dilute it with water, add milk and wheat flour, mix it well, and ferment it to make sumo wine. This wine is often used to worship gods in Indian mythology. The following China story network editor will bring you a detailed introduction. Let’s have a look!
In Rigveda, Suma God is one of the first gods (the God of thunder Indra, the God of fire ajini, and the God of wine Suma). Suma wine is the nectar of God, which can give the drinker supernatural power or eternal power.
In the epic, sumo is in charge of sacrifice, asceticism, constellations and herbs, and is the patron saint of the four.
Myths and legends
Brahma Angel moon god Suma became the master of stars, sacrifices, plants, rituals and vows. As sumo was the first to complete the enthronement ceremony and become king, after that, he became proud of his reputation and beauty and forgot his due virtue. He took the beautiful Dhara from the priest. No matter how hard the priest tried, he couldn’t get his wife back. Even if the immortal or Brahma himself came out to persuade, it was in vain. Sumo didn’t want to let her go at all. Ushanas, the Lord of Venus, is the mentor of Asura, and he and the sacrificial Lord will always be competitors. He sided with sumo. The God, led by Indra, felt aggrieved for his mentor, the sacrificial Lord, so a war broke out between the God and Asura for the wife of the sacrificial Lord robbed by sumo.
The God’s army is led by the majestic Ludlow. He has been the protector of Angelo since ancient times. Ushanas led a large group of Asura troops to the God. The soldiers of both sides fought bravely, and the cries soared into the sky. There were dead bodies lying on the ground and blood flowed everywhere. The battle between the strong enemies reached such a crazy and cruel level that the Earth Goddess trembled. She asked Brahma to end this terrible war. Brahma intervened. He ordered ushanas, the leader of Asura, and rudro, the leader of the God of heaven, to conclude a peace treaty. At the same time, Indra liberated Indra and returned her to the priest.
When Tara came home, the priest found that she was pregnant. Soon after, she gave birth to a beautiful son. Sumo and the priest were shocked by the child’s amazing and wonderful face. They all said this was their son. The gods said to Dhara, “tell us publicly, who is the biological father of the child?”
The ashamed Buddha was speechless. The gods could not get the answer. The son of Dhara was very angry and threatened his mother that if she hid the truth, she would curse her. Brahma asked the child to calm down and asked Dhara, “daughter, please tell me, whose son is this child, the son of the Lord or sumo?” Tora blushed with shame and replied, “it’s sumo’s.”
Sumo was elated and praised his son. He named him Buda, which means wise man. Brahma named him the ruler of Buda planet, that is, mercury.
Dhara stayed with the sacrificial Lord, and King sumo married 27 beautiful daughters of dasa, 27 constellations in the sky of the moon. Among the 27 daughters of dasa, rosini is the most beautiful. She became sumo’s beloved wife, and the moon God loved her very much, while the other 26 wives were almost forgotten. These neglected and humiliated wives went to their father to complain about their husbands. They asked, “father, please make us all share love!”
Dacha summoned Su Mo and sternly warned him, “your behavior is shameful! You should treat all wives equally!” Sumo promised to do so, but he didn’t keep his promise. The humiliated wife once again arrived at the moment and complained, “he only patronized rosini and got along with her day and night. Father, we can’t stand it anymore! We won’t go back and stay with you!”
Dacha summoned Su Mo again, and the moon god once again said that he would love all his wives equally, and the wives went back with him. However, this time Su Mo broke his promise again. His wife complained to his father three times: “sumo doesn’t listen to you!” Dacha lost his temper, cursed the star master, and made him sick.
Sumo became thinner and weaker, the moonlight became paler, and the night became darker. The grass on the ground began to wither and the animals began to lose fat. The more gaunt sumo is, the weaker the creature becomes. The moon god is getting smaller and thinner. Finally, the gods were also terrified. They came to the Lord of the stars and said, “sumo, what happened to you? In the past, you were brilliant! Where is your brilliance now? Why are you so weak?”
Sumo told the God about dacha’s curse on him. The gods arrived at the moment and begged, “please be kind to sumo and cancel the curse on him. He is so thin and almost has nothing left. Animals and plants shrink with him, and so do we! If we are all haggard, what will the universe leave?” Dacha listened to the advice of the God and said, “let him go to the Holy River saroshudy (now known as the salsuti River, which flowed into the sea in ancient times and has now disappeared in the lapstein desert). Wash away his sins at the entrance of the river to the sea. I forgive him, but from now on, he will gradually lose weight in half of each month. Then he will gradually grow fat in the other half of the month.”
Su Mo came to the west coast and washed his sins in the place designated by dacha. He regained the cold light and shone again on the universe with these lights. Gods, humans, animals and plants are happy again. Dacha was also very satisfied and said to sumo, “follow my orders and don’t despise your wife anymore!”
Since then, every month, the moon is round and incomplete. It is said that when the moon is short, the gods of heaven and the souls of ancestors who came to the kingdom of Yanmo all came to suck the sumo holy wine from the moon god. The moon god sumo is composed of these sumo wines. After that, the sun once again added the brilliance of the moon god.
It is also said that dacha cursed Su Mo, who would die of tuberculosis and be rescued by his wife.
