Original title: Taking commandos to occupy the mountains of the US Army
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Chinese people’s Volunteer Army’s war to resist US aggression and aid Korea. 70 years ago, the outstanding Chinese people bravely crossed the Yalu River and fought a just war to defend peace and resist aggression. This war has gained national and military prestige and tempered the people’s army. Our army’s way of winning the war to resist US aggression and aid Korea, its strategy of building the army, the revolutionary servicemen’s heroic spirit of “less steel and more gas”, the fighting spirit of daring to light the sword and dare to win, and the Chinese people and revolutionary servicemen’s feelings of giving up their small homes for everyone and giving up their small selves for the big ones, have condensed into a strong spiritual driving force and national psychology to stimulate the heroic struggle of the Chinese nation.
Starting from today, this newspaper will launch a news column titled “honor with iron blood – Commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Chinese people’s Volunteer Army’s war to resist US aggression and aid Korea”, which will focus on publicizing a number of heroes and model figures in the war to resist US aggression and aid Korea, and pay tribute to revolutionary heroes and models! Please note.
When the movie Shangganling was shown on TV, Wang Xuezhi, a 90 year old man who sat on the sofa and watched it, burst into tears. He said to Aunt Chu, the nanny, “these charging soldiers are like soldiers in my platoon!” On the morning of September 22, when the reporter walked into Room 302, the staff dormitory of the former second business bureau, Liaoyuan lane, xuanyuandian community, Kaifu District, Changsha City, he happened to see the scene of wangxuezhi, a veteran of the war to resist US aggression and aid Korea.
Wangxuezhi was born in Woyang County, Anhui Province. At the age of 18, he joined the army and participated in the Huaihai Campaign, the river crossing campaign, the liberation of Guangzhou, the southwest campaign, the war to resist US aggression and aid Korea, etc. in 1950, he was rated as a “national combat hero”, and won the commemorative medal of the National Conference of combat heroes, the Mao Zedong medal, and later the independence Medal of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
“During the Huaihai Campaign, I had just joined the people’s Liberation Army for a few days. Before I could get my uniform and gun, I went to the battlefield carrying a vegetable basket with four grenades.” Mr. Wang spoke about the battles he had experienced in those years with a slightly excited expression, which brought our thoughts into the war years.
At that time, wangxuezhi followed a team of more than 70 people to attack the enemy’s heart. The battle was extremely fierce. More than 70 people were left with only 4 uninjured soldiers including wangxuezhi and 15 wounded. “From now on, I will be the monitor and follow my command.” At the critical moment of life and death, wangxuezhi stood up, wrapped up and placed the wounded, and then hid in the cemetery with three other soldiers. When the enemy attacked, he concentrated his firepower and fought fiercely. More than 10 enemies who did not know the details were scared to surrender. After that, he took his comrades in arms to look for two days and three nights, found his own company, and the wounded were properly placed. Because of his resourcefulness and bravery, Wang Xuezhi was promoted to monitor and his class was named “wangxuezhi class”.
In the autumn and winter of 1951, the 15th army of the volunteer army entered the Korean War. At this time, wangxuezhi was the platoon leader of the first platoon of the Third Battalion and seventh company of the 134th regiment of the 45th division of the 15th army. As a national combat hero, he charged ahead with his comrades in arms to overcome difficulties.
“At a place about 300 kilometers away from the Yalu River, we met an army of South Korean Lee Seung Wan. I led the soldiers to fight hard, and the battle soon won.” Wangxuezhi went on to say that soon, they came to shawulangshi mountain near Shanggan mountain to attack the mountain occupied by the American devils. One night, the camp made an exception and sent canned beef as dinner. Some recruits were very happy, but the veterans knew that there would be an extremely difficult battle.
Old Wang gestures: “I took a row of soldiers with me as a commando team. The attack began in the evening and lasted until fourorfive o’clock the next morning. At that time, American planes circled overhead and dropped bombs from time to time. We fought back against the American army in the trenches. Some of our comrades in arms were killed. We had no time to grieve. The people behind us had to make up for it immediately. It was really a hero who was bold and brave. He attacked in the first place, and did not complain about minor injuries or serious injuries. A stray bullet hit my left thigh The wound was too serious to walk. I found a deep pit to hide. I tore my shirt and bandaged the wound to stop bleeding. The troops were temporarily withdrawn. I was unable to walk, so I had to hide in a deep pit. For two days and two nights, I found water and dry food from my dead comrades in arms. On the third day, the volunteer army launched a large-scale counter offensive. I climbed to the side of the highway at the foot of the mountain and was found by my comrades in arms and carried to the rear. Finally, the mountain was captured by the brave volunteer soldiers. “
In 1954, wangxuezhi transferred to Handan, Hebei Province. A few years later, his family came to his wife’s hometown, Changsha, Hunan. He has successively worked in Tongtai Street police station of Changsha Public Security Bureau, Changsha No. 16 middle school, Changsha finance and Trade Commission, Changsha catering company and Changsha No. 2 commercial bureau. Everywhere he went, the “people’s hero” hid his fame and never fought for fame and profits until he retired in 1991. In the early 1980s, when the unit divided the houses, wangxuezhi voluntarily gave up the opportunity to allocate three bedrooms and one living room, gave away the benefits to others, and moved to the dormitory of the former Municipal Second Business Bureau, which is less than 70 square meters.
The reporter looked around and saw that the walls were mottled and the furniture was old, but the newspapers and periodicals such as reference news and military Expo were piled up one after another, and the traces of reading were clear at a glance. Mr. Wang told reporters that he is not blind or deaf now. He must read newspapers and TV news every day and care about national affairs. “If he doesn’t read newspapers any day, he can’t sleep at night.”
Old Wang, who has been through a hail of bullets and bullets, takes a dim view of material life and has a full sense of happiness in his daily life. He said: “it is my greatest happiness to live to 90 years old healthily. Tears come to my eyes when I think of my comrades in arms who died for the revolution. Many of my comrades in arms who fought side by side in those years have died, and they simply have no chance to make any demands. What qualifications do I have to be proud of my achievements and make troubles and demands for the party?”
