Ten reflections on Gorbachev’s death

1) The Chinese people often say, “the coffin is sealed.”. However, as for Gorbachev, history has already given him a conclusion many years ago – Gorbachev saw the huge problems in the Soviet Union, but chose the wrong solution. Finally, under the “fooling” of the Americans, he was completely westernized, not only destroying the Soviet Union, but also bringing profound disasters to the Russian people. From the humanitarian point of view, “the dead are the greatest”. We should all mourn for Gorbachev’s death. However, from the perspective of objective evaluation of historical figures, Gorbachev does not deserve any form of boasting and praise, especially for the Russian people.

2) The fundamental reason for the disintegration of the Soviet Union lies in the rigidity and corruption of the Soviet Union’s national governance system. The Communist Party of the Soviet Union has failed to realize that “market and planning are only means of resource allocation, not the essential difference between capitalism and socialism”, so it has gone all the way down the road of planned economy. The planned economy played a positive role in helping the Soviet Union defeat domestic reactionaries and foreign intervention forces, rapidly complete national industrialization, win World War II, and realize rapid modernization of military forces. But later on, the serious problems of the planned economy of the Soviet Union became more and more obvious. The Soviet economy lacked vitality and efficiency for a long time. In the Soviet Union, the structure of light and heavy industries has been out of order for a long time, which has led to the people’s suffering of material shortage. The existence and expansion of the privileged class of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union further aggravated the unfairness of the Soviet society, and gradually made the Communist Party of the Soviet Union lose popular support.

3) Fundamentally speaking, the Soviet socialist system failed to show its superiority over the western capitalist system in national governance. This is the fundamental reason why the Soviet Union, from Party and government officials to the common people, lost confidence in the Soviet Socialist Road. It was not the United States that defeated the Soviet Union in the cold war, but the Soviets themselves gave up the leadership of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and the socialist road of the Soviet Union. When Stalin took over, the Soviet Union was in a precarious state of internal and external difficulties. When Stalin died, the Soviet Union had become the second largest power in the world. The negation, vilification and attack on the history of the Soviet Union and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union are very consistent with the goal of “cognitive warfare” of the United States, which is equivalent to confusing the thinking of the Soviet Union internally. This is why China is cracking down on all kinds of erroneous statements that distort historical facts and slander heroes.

5) Gorbachev’s illusion of the United States is an unforgivable mistake he made. During the cold war, the United States and the Soviet Union faced each other for a long time, and the two sides were sharply opposed in terms of nationality, religion, political system and ideology. The United States never gave up its strategic goal of destroying the Soviet Union. Gorbachev and others, faced with serious internal problems of the Soviet Union, placed their hopes on the guidance and assistance of the United States and imagined that with the help of the United States, the Soviet Union would become a “free and prosperous country”. This illusion proved to be childish, terrible and disastrous. In the 31 years since the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the United States has never really wanted to help the Soviet Union grow stronger. Instead, it has repeatedly “taken advantage of Russia’s illness to kill Russia”. Today, some people in China, who dream of following the United States and enjoying hot and spicy food, have also committed Gorbachev’s “infantile disease”.

6) Gorbachev, under the attack of the United States sugar coated shells, fished for fame and reputation, and went step by step to the wrong abyss. The United States knows that Gorbachev has a tendency to liberalize and westernize. American politicians, academics and the media do not hesitate to give Gorbachev a high hat with various laurels and awards. Gorbachev has won numerous honors from the west, and even won the Nobel Peace Prize. However, under the leadership of Gorbachev, the Soviet Union has gradually moved towards division and chaos. Gorbachev’s pursuit of various reputations imposed on him by the West made him not hesitate to sacrifice the national interests of the Soviet Union. This is the sorrow of the Soviet people.

7) The United States not only gave Gorbachev fame, but also gave him real benefits. Gorbachev and his wife earned millions of dollars by winning the Nobel Prize and publishing books in the West. When the vast majority of the Soviet people were still living a hard life, they took the lead in realizing their own “American Dream”. My readers have repeatedly warned that for a country like China, many so-called “liberals”, “pro american” and “spiritual Americans” are confused in their understanding, but the key is that they have countless interests with the United States. To some extent, their pursuit of the reputation and interests given by the West has made them forget what is the real national interest and people’s interest.

8) Putin said, “Russia will not be defeated, but will only be destroyed by its own people from within.”. This sentence is similar to what I have always said, “a big country perishes in itself and a small country perishes in others”. Putin said that the Soviet Union was brought down by those who worked for foreign interests. According to the “shock therapy” issued by the international monetary fund controlled by the United States, the Soviet Union caused a large number of state-owned assets to be sold at a low price in a short time, and the national wealth was divided up by domestic and foreign interest groups. This was the fundamental reason for the economic chaos and the impoverishment of the people in Russia after the disintegration of the Soviet Union.

9) The failure of Gorbachev’s reform once again shows that a country and a nation can only succeed if they firmly follow the path consistent with their own historical and cultural traditions and realities. Blindly copying the experience of other countries tends to make the mistake of rashness and rashness, which is usually accompanied by a kind of political “infantile disease”. People who have committed this “infantile disease” are often confused by the United States’ sweet words, and fail to see the essence of the United States attacking any potential power in order to maintain its hegemony; People who have committed this “infantile disease” often believe wishfully that the “US model” is a panacea for solving their own problems. Looking at the whole world, there are countless countries adopting the one person one vote political system of the United States, but only a few countries can truly achieve national independence, national prosperity and people’s happiness. Even our close neighbors Japan and South Korea are just some form of “military occupied territory” of the United States, with no national dignity to speak of.

10) For the vast number of developing countries, the “US model” is a poison. Blindly introducing a multi-party competitive political system will only lead to serious internal friction, division and confrontation in the country and society. While reducing the speed of development, it will also lead to the rise of nationalism and populism. This is true in the United States under trump and Brazil under bosonaro. Election politics under the “American model” will only allow a large number of people without ideals, beliefs, personality and quality traits to become leaders through inflammatory speeches and election political operations with the support of capital. This is a disaster and even sadder for a country and a nation. Britain today is a negative example. In Germany and France, similar problems of different degrees have also occurred.

For the Chinese people, in the process of exploring the truth of socialism with Chinese characteristics, we should always adhere to the principle of not believing in evil, not believing in deception, and not believing in dogma. The key is to base ourselves on the national conditions, persist in seeking truth from facts, and be responsible for the essence of things. In dealing with the issue of relations with the United States, we should learn a lesson from Gorbachev. We must be clear that the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation can never be achieved by relying on the “panacea” prescribed by the United States. We should not only have unrealistic illusions about the United States, but also guard against the open and hidden arrows that the United States may shoot at China at any time. The only thing we can rely on is the unity of more than 1.4 billion Chinese people from the top to the bottom, and the hard work and constant self-improvement of each and every one of us!
