The destruction of Cao Cao’s suspected tomb has led to a lot of discussion about Cao Cao’s historical deeds in the literary and historical circles, and there are still doubts about the judgment of the true tomb. When I reread the annals of the Three Kingdoms – History of Wei, I found a story about Cao Cao and tears, which is worth talking about as a historical reference. The story is that when Cao Cao went to war, his military capacity was prosperous and his flags were flying. He was honored as king of Wei by Emperor Xian of the Han Dynasty. When he left, many of his officials, subordinates and their relatives rushed to see him off. His favorite son, Cao Pi and Cao Zhi, also bowed around. In his farewell speech, Cao Zhiyu wrote about the literary and martial arts of the king of Wei, which attracted the attention and praise of the crowd. Cao Cao was also deeply happy. Such an atmosphere and occasion made Cao Pi feel embarrassed and terrified because he didn’t know how to deal with it. At this critical moment, Wu Zhi, a close friend of Cao Pi, whispered to him, which made him wake up. At the moment when the king of Wei moved, Cao Pi poured tears of hurt to the king of Wei. He was so full of tears that he even attracted the king of Wei. It was such a farewell scene that Cao Zhi’s Huazhang was defeated by Cao Pi’s sensationalism, which buried Cao Cao’s intention to choose Cao Pi as the crown prince. As far as Cao Cao’s feelings are concerned, Cao Zhi’s words are brilliant but less sincere, and Cao Pi’s tears are full of human relations emotion, which is in line with Cao Cao’s idea of “governing the world with filial piety”. In this farewell scene, Wu Zhi used power tactics to help Cao Pi overcome his difficulties. Wu Zhi had long been a close friend of Cao Pi, It can be proved from Cao Pi’s famous article “the book of Wu Zhi”: “on February 3, PI said: time is easy to get. Don’t come here for four years. After three years’ absence, Dongshan still laments its remoteness. It’s too much to go by. Although the book is sparse, it still hasn’t solved its labor problem. “In the past, many relatives suffered from diseases. Xu, Chen, Ying and Liu all died for a while. It was painful! In the past, when you were traveling, you would connect with the public, and when you stopped, you would take over the banquet. How could you ever lose sight of each other in a moment? Every time you drink wine, it is popular. You play silk and bamboo together, and you are intoxicated with wine. When you listen to it and write poetry, you suddenly don’t know the music. It is said that a hundred years have passed, and you can protect each other for a long time. He Tu has been a little sad for a few years!…” In his letter, Cao Pi also mentioned the advantages and disadvantages of the articles of various writers of Yexia literati group, which is also the point of view he commented on in the classic treatise. Finally, in his letter, Thaksin lamented that he had “grown up and cherished thousands of things. He had some worries. He didn’t sleep all night. When would he want to return to the past? He has become an old man, but he has not yet had a head and white ears… Young people should really work hard. After the new year, how can they climb? The ancients thought of walking by candle at night, and there are good things to be had”! Finally, Cao Pi asked Wu Zhi, “why do you entertain yourself? Do you have a lot to say about your creation? Look East at the city and cut the book to express your heart.” This letter is very emotional, remembering the old trip, sentimental and sincere, and reflects the unusual friendship between the two people. The true feelings are naturally revealed. It is hard to say that the crying that people remember only after whispering to remind them is naturally revealed. Therefore, although the tearful tactics can deceive the parties, they can not deceive countless descendants who are watching. Today we read the records in the history of Wei and the book of Wu Zhi. It is not difficult to tell which is true and which is false. So, can this also be used as a reference or a lesson for people today?
