Teacher’s day in 2022 is somewhat different. On the same day as the Mid Autumn Festival, there are only three such coincidences in the 21st century’s 100 years. The next one will be in 2041 19 years later and 2079 57 years later.
It may be based on this opportunity that station B specially connects teachers with the moon. With the old song “the moon represents my heart” as the background music, station B combines nine teachers, including Liu Jiaqi, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zheng Li, Professor of Tsinghua University, and Luo Xiang, Professor of China University of political science and law, to interpret the meaning and interpretation of the bright moon from their respective disciplines.
From literature, “look up at the bright moon, look down and think of your hometown.” the bright moon represents reunion and eternity;
There is an attitude from life: “when you are happy in life, you must be happy. Don’t make the golden cup empty to the moon.” this inspires us to be optimistic and open-minded;
From astronomy, “sending you a full moon can also be a missing moon,” because the incomplete moon is only temporarily blocked from its light;
From art, from the “Moonlight Sonata” to understand tenderness and kindness;
From science and technology, from “jade rabbit II on the back of the moon” to the distant sea of stars, people are eager to explore the unknown world;
………..
In my opinion, the “Moon” here has endless connotations, including knowledge, strength, conscience, morality and growth; There is also hope, light, dreams, and so on.
In life, parents have the greatest impact on a person, followed by teachers, because teachers give us all these.
On this special day, I wish the 15.8 million teachers across the country a Happy Mid Autumn Festival, happy family reunion and good health.
Part one: when I was a teacher, the moment of collapse
In fact, five years ago, I had an experience as a teacher. This video reminds me of that time.
In 2017, I began to engage in science and technology education, teaching school-based courses of open source hardware.
In my opinion, teachers are more than just imparting knowledge. They need patience, wisdom, gentleness, responsibility, honesty, carefulness and other qualities. Teachers who preach, teach and dispel doubts should also be the people most trusted and respected by students.
But reality and ideal are often different. Before my first class, the headmaster communicated with me for about 40 minutes. He repeatedly emphasized discipline and management with me, but he didn’t have much expectation on the classroom effect.
I am a little unconvinced when I listen. Ten years ago, I was in the management of the enterprise, and dozens of adults were obedient. Now there are more than 40 third grade children?
Unexpectedly, I “collapsed” in the first class. Because my course needs practice, there is a certain hands-on link. In order to make the course more effective and increase the students’ teamwork ability, we have added the link of “grouping”.
What I want to know is to choose a group leader. I have organized training in the enterprise. What a simple thing. The only possible plan is to worry that students are not active and unwilling to be group leaders. For this reason, I also said a lot of words to encourage them.
Unexpectedly, this was the beginning of losing control.
Nowadays, children’s personality is too bright and open. Of the 46 children in the class, at least 30 want to be group leaders. The whole class began to quarrel, and everyone strongly expressed their “desire for leadership.” suddenly, the whole classroom changed from “quiet enough to be heard when a needle fell on the ground” to “a battlefield filled with smoke and dust” or “a construction site with piercing roars.”.
Many years later, I would recall that day when I saw a teacher sharing videos such as [the daily life of online class teachers’ collapse] or [my voice became hoarse when I practiced as a teacher after 00] on station B.
All the stops and persuasions have failed, and all I have left in my mind is my God, who am I, where am I from, and what have I done?
It is difficult for people who have not really been a teacher to understand all kinds of emergencies that often occur in class. Inexperienced teachers often go crazy. To be a good teacher requires long-term thinking and practice. Teaching a young life is not a one-way transfer of knowledge, but the running in of both sides.
Part II: teachers are not just knowledge givers
Since then, I have had a lot of professional experience, but this experience of a primary school teacher may be the most impressive to me.
If I were asked to answer, what kind of teacher is a qualified teacher, I can’t answer this question. Because there seems to be no upper limit to the profession of teaching.
There is a data that makes me very moved. In the past 20 years, at the peak of the country, there were nearly 40 million left behind children every year. They were separated from their parents for a long time. In countless villages in China, there were nearly 2.9 million rural teachers who guarded these children with their lives.
Knowledge can change fate. In the past 20 years, nearly 46 million rural children have gained knowledge and strength, entered university campuses, and changed their destiny.
When we see this paragraph, we may only have a concept or see figures, but in reality, someone really records all this.
Station B up is the main “Diary of rural teachers”, and teacher Ding Yuling records her daily life and that of left behind children.
In her school, there is no majestic teaching building, complete facilities and multimedia that I saw in Shenzhen. What she records is a little boy who is happy because he gets a new textbook. She writes his name in the side seam of the book with expectation. She is a little girl who writes letters to working parents, a teacher who cleans up and plays games with students, an elderly but kind grandfather and grandmother in a rural family
According to the interviews and records I saw, in this primary school, Mr. Ding leads several classes by himself. From English to mathematics, the real whole subject teaching, teaching conditions and living conditions are relatively poor. However, in the video, we can hardly feel the poverty of the countryside and the loneliness of the left behind children. Every day she works hard, what she remembers is the happy school life and the real and bright smiles of the children.
We say that the best teacher for children is always their parents, but for left behind children, the best teacher for children can always be a teacher. The mission and responsibility she bears are far beyond our imagination.
There are not many teachers who have touched people’s hearts like this.
At 12:52 on September 5 this year, a 6.8-magnitude earthquake occurred in Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Sichuan has a strong sense of earthquakes. At the moment of the earthquake, the public video recorded the scenes of teachers organizing students to evacuate in an orderly manner in many kindergartens to primary schools and middle schools. Their first reaction was to think of students. It was moving that they finally evacuated.
The English teacher of Luding County No. 1 middle school said: let the students go first, which should be the most sincere idea of every teacher. I stood on the platform and waited until the last student left the classroom before running out. After running to the playground, the teachers counted the number of their own classes.
In fact, this scene has been repeated. In the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, although there were also exceptions such as Fan Paopao, hundreds of cases of teachers risking their lives to save students emerged.
This is the norm.
Tan Qianqiu, a teacher at Sichuan Dongqi middle school, was the closest to the classroom door during the earthquake, but had no idea of running away at all. Instead, he chose to stay to organize and escort the students to leave first.
He was finally unable to evacuate the classroom, but was buried under the collapsed ruins. When the search and rescue personnel removed the last cement plate pressed on Mr. Tan’s body, the scene in front of him made everyone cry. The back of Mr. Tan’s brain had been dented and his whole body had been blurred. But under his strong arm, four children were safe and sound.
On the same day, the Central School of Yingxiu town was destroyed by the earthquake. In this short period of 12 seconds, Zhang Miya, a math teacher, was in the second floor office next to the stairs. At the moment of crisis, he ran back to the classroom in a retrograde sprint, letting the children lie on the ground and hide their bodies. Then he organized the students to evacuate.
At this time, the teaching building collapsed. When the rescue workers arrived at Yingxiu primary school and moved away from a corner of the teaching building, they were shocked by what they saw:
Teacher Zhang Miya knelt down in the rubble and hugged the two children with both arms. The two children still had vital signs, but teacher Zhang could not wake up again
The arm holding the child was stiff, so people had to cut off teacher Zhang’s arm in tears to save the child
I often think that in many professions in China, anyone who can hang the word “people”, whether it is the people’s police or the people’s teacher, has its own sacred attribute.
It is a teacher’s instinct to let the children go first.
I deeply understand this instinct. At the moment of danger, teachers will not consider whether what I have done is worth it, but can only do it.
Perhaps, when you walk into the classroom and see the students’ eyes of absolute trust, this professional habit has been formed.
In my understanding, teachers are definitely not only knowledgeable and skilled people, but also have strict requirements on themselves in morality and other aspects.
Part III: teachers cannot be replaced
In the 21st century, when Internet information is so developed, there is often an illusion that knowledge can be found at any time and is readily available, but the function of a teacher has never been replaced.
Information explosion allows us to understand more about the world, but unilateral information input is not enough. Knowledge must be better acquired in emotional interaction and professional explanation.
Everyone’s knowledge structure and cognitive level are different, which is not a matter of ability, but everyone’s understanding of things is always different due to his own growth and experience.
In my opinion, in the field of knowledge, the core of teachers is to turn the knowledge in books into students’ cognition and experience, not to simply recite a paragraph or formula, but to let students finally understand and absorb, and in this process, to achieve the dual growth of knowledge and emotion.
An excellent teacher breaks up and crushes rare knowledge for students to deeply master according to students’ understanding ability, and sets up quite a lot of interaction and discussion time, so that students can fully expand horizontally and deepen vertically on this knowledge point.
With normal understanding ability, students can understand a book by 50%, and excellent teachers can expand their knowledge by more than 100%.
As a tool, the Internet has actually played a more convenient role, allowing teachers to come to us more conveniently. When I usually read the materials on station B, I often brush with the content of academician Liu Jiaqi and Luo Xiang, who said that the criminal law teachers were up masters, which used to be only accessible in Colleges and universities. Now I can see it by clicking on the video. I have seen a figure. Now there are more than 5000 teachers at station B, with a total teaching time of 430000 hours.
This is a more simple but intuitive way of communication between teachers and students, which has a wider radiation and is more friendly. In the video of academician Liu Jiaqi explaining the geomorphology of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, some commentators joked that I had a cordial and in-depth discussion with academicians on the geographical issues related to the Qinghai Tibet Plateau.
In the future, no matter how advanced this era is, teachers will always be able to change their fate, let people learn knowledge and strength, and see hope and brightness.
Today, the Mid Autumn Festival is on the same day as teacher’s day. Once again, we pay tribute to all teachers in China with the help of “people who send the moon” on station B. We thank teachers for their efforts and dedication, giving us knowledge, strength, conscience, morality and growth; And hope, light, dreams
We have all seen these stories about the moon in our textbooks. Those who chase the moon also meet us in class. But with their “teachers”, the stories of the moon have truly become stories of courage, romance, and you and me
We have never regretted becoming a teacher, because we believe that knowledge is brighter than moonlight, and more important than knowledge is to believe in the power of knowledge.
The more it is at night, the more it needs light. No one who heads down to go on the road looks up to the moon to borrow some light.
Because those who believe in knowledge are not afraid of the dark.
I wish the 15.8 million teachers across the country a happy mid autumn festival with family reunion and good health.
