Will American billionaires ultimately become big landlords?
I saw a post on the Weibo account of Sina Weibo owner @ Xi Xiaoli, which makes a lot of sense. The post states that Bill Gates held 45% of Microsoft’s shares when it went public in 1986. Over the past thirty years, he has been continuously cashing out, and to this day, as the founder of Microsoft, he only holds 1.36% of Microsoft’s shares. So, what did Gates do with all that cash out? He purchased a large amount of high-quality land in the United States through the world’s top financial management team, making him a major landowner in the United States. However, if Gates does not purchase land, his stock value can reach trillions of dollars, which is higher than the market value of his land purchase.
Coincidentally, the founder of Amazon, Bezos, has also done similar things. Since Amazon went public in 1997, he has continuously reduced his holdings of stocks, reducing his holdings from 42% to 10%, and a large portion of his cash flow has also been invested in American land. The final research conclusion of the blogger is that the reason why the richest people did not choose to hold their own company’s stocks but chose to purchase land is a reasonable explanation that all human wealth comes from land, and owning land has all possibilities, including the birth of a high-tech company on the land. The two former richest men made this choice, and now the richest man Musk talked about the future value of his house and land, then turned around and bought the entire town of Bocachika······
Why do wealthy people buy land?
As we all know, the three elements of productivity are labor force, means of production and objects of labor. Means of production include land, factory buildings, machinery and equipment, tools, raw materials, etc., but the most basic means of production is land. Life exists on land, and all means of production can only be produced by relying on land, so land, like people, is the most important and indispensable element in productivity. People are restricted by birth, old age, disease and death, and people are relatively “free” and uncontrolled. The relations of production around people is more complex. Land, on the other hand, is a property system and is immortal, and can be inherited in a private society. So, ultimately, these wealthy Americans bought a large amount of high-quality land to store their wealth.
In history, China has also been the same, with private ownership of land. In the context of private ownership of land, since power is constantly concentrated in the form of groups, the wealth attached to power will also continue to be concentrated in the hands of a few people, and the means of production – land, which is traded through wealth, will also continue to flow into the hands of a few people. Especially in disaster years, when farmers only have land to exchange for basic means of livelihood, they are forced to sell their land to the landlord class, thus accelerating land consolidation.
When most farmers lose their land, a large class of tenant farmers forms. Tenants can still survive in good harvests, but if there are consecutive years of famine, when the land cannot support them, there will be a large number of hungry refugees. As the number of these refugees increases, leaders may appear among them, or people from other classes may become their leaders and lead them in rebellion.
Once the rebellion is successful, it means the downfall of the old dynasty and the birth of a new dynasty. Then, the vested interests who previously held the land will be deprived of their land by the new power holders, and these lands will be redistributed to the vast farmers. As a result, the productivity of the new dynasty will be restored and even greatly improved, which is a new round of prosperity. Then, as time goes by and the number of new vested interests increases, a new round of land mergers begins, and farmers gradually lose their land. Eventually, there is another cycle where the new dynasty replaces the old one, which is known as the historical cycle rate.
Regarding the revolution and historical cycle rate of our country, Chairman Mao thoroughly studied how China can succeed in revolution by studying Marxism Leninism and Chinese history, in order to ensure breaking out of the historical cycle rate.
In history, Marx’s socialism was a global event where industrial production was sufficiently developed. In other words, socialism was achieved after the capitalist industrial production was sufficiently developed, and the global working class fought for rights, ultimately achieving socialism and even communism. Lenin and Stalin developed Marxism, fused Marxism with nationalism through the Workers’ Revolution, and ultimately creatively promoted the socialist system that was achieved within a country. Chairman Mao conducted in-depth research on Marxism Leninism and Chinese history, believing that the victory of the Chinese revolution must be integrated with the Chinese peasant revolution, and ultimately established the strategy of “fighting against the landlords and dividing the land”.
In fact, “fighting local tyrants and distributing farmland” is to seize the fact that Chinese society was still an agricultural society at that time, and land was still the core means of production. Through leading the masses to “fight local tyrants and distribute farmland”, we can redistribute means of production, thus deconstructing the three mountains that were pressing on the Chinese people at that time. Finally, the CPC led by Chairman Mao seized power and won the great victory of the New Democracy Revolution.
While the CPC is leading the people to carry out the New Democracy revolution, it is also carrying out land reform, or it is precisely because of the land reform policy that we have won the victory of the New Democracy revolution. In the end, the result of our country’s land reform is the state-owned ownership of urban land and the collective ownership of rural land.
In Zhan Hao’s view, this great achievement ultimately laid the foundation for the end of our country’s historical cycle rate. Because, in our country’s political system, the CPC is a political party that represents the interests of the people of the country and has no private interests. The first sentence of the Party Constitution is: The CPC is the vanguard of the Chinese working class, the vanguard of the Chinese people and the Chinese nation, the leading core of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, representing the development requirements of China’s advanced productive forces, the direction of China’s advanced culture, and the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the Chinese people.
The CPC, which has no self-interest, leads the people to establish a people’s government and then is responsible for governing the whole country. This political system means that the people actually hold land forever through the Chinese government under the leadership of the CPC. At the national level, land belongs to the whole people; At the village collective level, land belongs to all villagers. This means that the most core and basic means of production will always belong to the people. In this way, we have the foundation to break through the historical cycle rate.
In theory, as long as land belongs to both state-owned and collective ownership, our country no longer needs to repeat the historical cycle rate of the past. Because, if a model is played to the end and cannot be played, we just need to start a new round through reform, reset the procedures, and re-establish new relations of production, and our country will be able to revitalize the birth machine. Because our land is publicly owned, we have the basis for restarting all means of production.
We can take the social development of China after the founding of the People’s Republic of China as an example to see this clearly. After the founding of New China, we had more people than means of production. In order to develop, we had to concentrate means of production, so we implemented a socialist public economy, concentrating people and means of production, so that all people had means of production and tools of production, and then we determined that our objects of labor would be productive. In the first thirty years of New China, it was against this background that it developed.
However, with the development, the “big pot” of complete public ownership has gradually exposed its drawbacks. It is the same to do more and do less, and individual enthusiasm has disappeared. The original relations of production can no longer adapt to the new stage of development, and can no longer fully mobilize the means of production. Instead, the social system of complete public ownership has become a key factor affecting development.
In this context, great people are great people, and their thoughts and perspectives are indeed different from those of ordinary people. After thorough consideration and analysis of the situation in the East and West at that time, Chairman Mao realized that the United States wanted to end the Vietnam War as soon as possible, and China’s real threat was precisely the Soviet Union to the north. So, after the Soviet border provocation, we launched a counterattack and broke off relations with the Soviet Union. The news of a break in relations between China and the Soviet Union was quickly seen by the United States. Upon receiving the signal, the United States immediately sent Kissinger to secretly visit China, and China and the United States reached a compromise at once. In the end, the United States abandoned the South Vietnamese regime and successfully withdrew its troops from Vietnam. At the same time, China US relations broke the ice, and China Western relations also broke the ice. China gradually had an environment for reform and opening up to the West.
After the reform and opening up, China has opened up a new pattern with the public ownership economy as the main body and multiple ownership economies developing together, and the Chinese economy has also ushered in a new round of explosive period. This explosive period has made China the world’s second largest economy. However, with the outbreak of the global economic crisis in 2008, Western markets saw the ceiling, and China ushered in a new round of reform. From 2020, a new development pattern with internal and external economic cycles as the main driving force and mutual promotion was initiated. In this process, our country has introduced a land reform system, where rural land can be transferred, but its property rights still belong to the collective······
Do you see? After the new China, we have already started the third round. There’s no room left for a game, let’s shuffle and start another game. Why do we say we can start a new game by opening it? Because our land is state-owned and collectively owned! On the other hand, in the United States, why can we just grab someone else and when we can’t grab someone else, we can’t start a new game ourselves? Because land is privately owned and core resources are in the hands of capitalists!
In China, if officials cannot be replaced and capital cannot be used, we can support the capital of the bank. If one game cannot be played, we can immediately start a new game, which is the superiority of our national system. On the contrary, due to the lack of such superiority in the Great Beautiful Country, the underpants in the Great Beautiful Country are almost gone now!
Let’s just say, who has our system! The United States is not satisfied, let’s see the results next!
