About the four beauties in ancient China, people use four words to summarize their beauty: closing the moon, shying flowers, sunken fish and falling wild geese. “Falling wild goose” refers to Wang Zhaojun. It is said that Wang Zhaojun’s motorcade walked in the vast desert when he was going out of the frontier. Facing the desolation in front of him, he improvised and played the song “going out of the frontier”. At this time, a group of high-quality geese who knew music just flew across the sky. Hearing this sad music, they lost control of their emotions and fell to the ground in shock, so there was an allusion to “falling geese”.

The moon, the flower and the fish in “closing the moon, shame the flower and sinking the fish” are all shocked by the beauty of the beauty, but the wild goose in “falling wild goose” is infected by the music of sadness and falls to the ground by suicide. “Deep resentment” has almost become the basic tone for later scholars to depict Wang Zhaojun.

Xishi and Diao Chan were appointed as sexual weapons in those days. Yangyuhuan was forcibly snatched by her father-in-law and became her husband’s stepmother. In contrast, Wang Zhaojun voluntarily chose to go out to the frontier and marry him. What’s your complaint? In fact, these grievances were “quiet” for her by later scholars. Their starting point was very simple: Emperor yuan of the Han Dynasty was also a genuine son of heaven no matter how bad he was. Even if he was lucky enough to be nameless, it would be better to be a wife to the Barbarian King. Wangzhaojun may not think so, but it doesn’t matter what she thinks. The writers think that she should have a grudge according to their logic.

According to Cai Yong’s Qin Cao, Zhaojun was in a state of severe depression for a long time after he married the Huns. In ancient times, there were no psychiatrists, and they usually wrote poems to cure themselves. Wang Zhaojun wrote a poem “Zhaojun’s complaint”, which said: “the elegant swallow gathers far away in the Western Qiang. The mountains are high and the river is vast. The father comes to the mother, and the path is long. Alas, sad.”

Wangzhaojun was born in a civilian family in Zigui mountain area. He is not a young lady of an official family. Even with a little culture, he seems unable to write such literati and masculine poems. This is probably Cai Yong’s own handwriting.

Among the many works that express deep resentment for Wang Zhaojun, “autumn in the Han Palace” has a great influence. In the play, the emperor yuan of Han Dynasty is written as a seed of infatuation, which is in line with the ideal image of the emperor in the minds of scholars.

In autumn in the Han Palace, emperor yuan of the Han Dynasty was threatened by the Huns and forced to send Wang Zhaojun out of the frontier to make peace. In fact, at that time, the Huns were divided, and Hu Hanxie Chanyu could not be eliminated under the protection of the Han Dynasty. How can he send troops to threaten the emperor? In order to play up Wang Zhaojun’s loyalty to the Yuan emperor of the Han Dynasty, the play arranged for her to commit suicide in Heilongjiang, the border between Han and Tibet. That night, emperor yuan of the Han Dynasty telepathically dreamed of Zhaojun, and the lonely geese wailed artistically in his ears

Modern movies and TV dramas often joke about history. Zhugeliang can hang his arms with Xiao Qiao, and Wu Song can secretly fall in love with panjinlian… Righteous people hate this and cry out that such chaos will harm the next generation and make China a country that does not know its history in the future. In fact, this style of joking does not just appear today. Since ancient times, in order to express their “central ideas”, history can be pinched like plasticine by scholars at will. The emperor revised the official history through the Historiographer, and the literati made up history through novels and operas. In the end, the real history was like a cloud and mist, and could not be seen clearly.

Wang Zhaojun married the Huns and was set as a tragedy, so someone must be the villain. This man is the court painter maoyanshou. It is said that when painting Wang Zhaojun, Mao Yanshou put a tearful mole on the face of the portrait. This not only destroys the beauty, but also is “fierce”. Of course, emperor yuan of the Han Dynasty did not have luck with her. Therefore, she was later selected by Hu Han Xie Shan Yu and went to the Huns.

Is this so-called “tearful mole of losing a husband” really Mao Yanshou’s point? It is very doubtful. It is likely that future generations “clicked” it. Because two years after Wang Zhaojun’s marriage, Hu Hanxie Chanyu died. According to the custom of the Xiongnu, Wang Zhaojun remarried Fu Zhu Lei Ruo Shan Yu, the eldest son of Hu Han Xie Shan Yu. This marriage lasted 11 years, and Fu Zhu Lei Ruo Shan Yu also died. From the viewpoint of Han superstition, Wang Zhaojun is easily regarded as a “Kefu” in his life. Fortunately, the Huns did not have such superstition, so Wang Zhaojun was buried after his death. Most of Wang Zhaojun’s “tearful moles after her husband’s death” were caused by later scholars who “asked” Mao Yanshou to point to the portrait.

It is hard to say whether Wang Zhaojun’s two marriages in the Huns were as affectionate as some unofficial histories say, but at least they were relatively harmonious. However, remarrying to marry an illegitimate son made the Confucians feel humiliated, so Wang Zhaojun once again “grudged” according to their meaning.

With the improvement of the cultural quality of the whole people, we are used to interpreting historical events with the overall view. When Zhaojun went out of the frontier, he was no longer entangled with emperor yuan of the Han Dynasty. Instead, he was regarded as Wang Zhaojun, who was honest and upright and willing to contribute to the great interests of the nation and the peace of mankind. Objectively speaking, the Huns and the Han did coexist peacefully for 50 to 60 years. However, this is certainly not Wang Zhaojun’s personal credit. Strength determines everything, whether in political struggle or relations between countries. If the Huns were obviously stronger than the Han Dynasty, it would be difficult to avoid the outbreak of war even if Wang Zhaojun and their great Khan had a happy marriage.

To subjugate a country, only oneortwo evil women can do it; Peace can not be maintained by the love of oneortwo women.
