The image is generally a flamingo with a long tail and surrounded by fire. It is estimated that it is derived from people’s mythological processing and evolution of flamingos.

According to the myth, every time the Phoenix dies, it will ignite a fire all over its body, and then it will be reborn in the fire, and gain more powerful vitality than before, which is called “Phoenix Nirvana”. In this cycle, the Phoenix obtained eternal life, so it has the name of “immortal bird”. Phoenix, like kylin, is a general term for male and female. The male is phoenix and the female is Phoenix. The general term is Phoenix. Therefore, the word Phoenix is a compound word structure. Phoenix flying together is a symbol of auspiciousness and harmony. Like the image of the dragon, it becomes more and more complex, with Hongtou, linbuttocks, snake neck, fish tail, veins, turtle body, swallow chin, chicken mouth. Since ancient times, Phoenix has become an important part of Chinese culture. Phoenix: for China, Phoenix is a kind of spiritual thing representing happiness.

According to Guo Pu’s note in Er Ya Shi Niao, the Phoenix is characterized by “chicken head, swallow chin, snake neck, turtle back, fish tail, five colors and six feet high”. “Out of the country of the Oriental gentleman, flying all over the world, crossing Kunlun, drinking the mainstay, washing the feather and weak water, and not sleeping in the wind cave, the world will be peaceful when you see it.” According to the book of mountains and seas, tuzan, there are five image characters: “the first text is called virtue, the wing text is called Shun, the back text is called righteousness, the belly text is called faith, and the imitation text is called yueren.”

The origin of the Phoenix is about the Neolithic age. Many bird patterns on the painted pottery of the primitive society are the rudiments of the Phoenix. A white pottery pot was unearthed in the Hongjiang Gaomiao cultural site in Hunan about 7400 years ago. Its neck and shoulders are stamped with the patterns of Oriental God birds (including animal face and sun), one facing the front and the other looking back on the side. According to the identification of archaeological experts, the phoenix pattern on this pottery is at least 400 years earlier than the phoenix pattern found in the Hemudu cultural site in Yuyao, Zhejiang Province. It is the earliest phoenix pattern found in China so far. Disclaimer: the above content originates from the network, and the copyright belongs to the original author.
