So why is Guanyin Bodhisattva called Guanyin in the South China Sea? The following Chinese story net Xiaobian will bring you detailed answers.

In fact, the “Putuo Mountain in the South” mentioned by the Buddha in the Buddhist scriptures actually refers to the south of India, which is located on the South Indian sea.

According to chapter 27 of the Huayan Sutra on entering the Dharma world to taste good fortune, visiting and observing the free Bodhisattva, it is said that the venerable Yise se Suoluo told good fortune: good man! In the south, there is a mountain called buta Luojia. There is a Bodhisattva’s view of fame and freedom. You can ask him: how can Bodhisattva learn from Bodhisattva and practice Bodhisattva’s way? That is to say, the eulogy said: “there are many saints on the sea, and the treasures are extremely clean. The trees of Huaguo are full, and the springs and ponds are full. The brave husband feels at ease and lives on this mountain for the benefit of all living beings. You should ask for merits, and he should show you great convenience.”

At that time, the boy who was good at money went south gradually. As for the mountain, he sought this great Bodhisattva everywhere. In the rock valley to the west, the spring is lingering, the woods are fragrant, the herbs are soft, and the right-hand cloth is placed on the ground. The Bodhisattva sits on the diamond, and the countless Bodhisattvas sit on the gem, respectfully surrounding. In order to preach the great mercy Dharma, let them absorb all sentient beings.

This is the Taoist temple of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. It is called buta Luojia. It has a beautiful natural environment, with various Huaguo trees, soft herbs, and flying springs and Jinghu Lake. It is really a Fairy Island on the sea. Surrounded by boundless Bodhisattvas, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva sat down on the diamond and preached the great mercy Dharma to him.

Bhattaraja, transliterated from Sanskrit potalaka as bhattaraja, putuojia, Potala, etc., actually refers to our Chinese translation of “Putuo in the South China Sea”, which translates freely as Guangming mountain, island mountain, xiaohuashu mountain, etc. Volume II of the new translation of Huayan Sutra by Huiyuan: “this is a small flower tree mountain. It is said that there are many small white flower trees in this mountain. Their flowers are very fragrant, and the aroma is far away.”. This mountain is defined as the babonasan mountain in the south section of West ghats in India and east of molaya mountain. It is located in tinafuli county.

The “thousand hands and thousand eyes do not hinder the great compassion heart Dharma Sutra” also describes the Guanyin Taoist Center: “At that time, the Buddha was in putuojia mountain, Avalokitesvara palace, and the solemn Taoist temple. He gathered with the Bodhisattvas of the non central number, the immeasurable great news, and the immeasurable eight gods of heaven, dragon, and so on. At that time, Avalokitesvara shined on the earth of the ten temples. All of them were golden, and the sun and moon could not be seen. When the master Bodhisattva Wang saw this, he sighed that there had never been any. He asked the Buddha: who put such a magical aspect?”

Buddha’s words: in this meeting, there is a Bodhisattva named Guanyin, who came from immeasurable robbery to achieve great compassion. He is good at practicing the immeasurable dharoni gate. In order to make all sentient beings happy, he closely puts such great divine power.

It is said that there is a palace of Avalokitesvara on Mount putuojia. It is said that Sakyamuni Buddha meets with Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva and other Bodhisattvas without central number, Shengwen and Tianlong Babu on this mountain. In addition to achieving great compassion, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is also good at cultivating the limitless dhroni gate and releasing the divine power and light. When master Xuanzang came to India in the Tang Dynasty, he visited the holy land of Avalokitesvara at Mount putuojia.

Volume 10 of the western regions of the Tang Dynasty states:

In the eastern part of molaya, there is buta Luojia mountain, with dangerous mountain paths and steep rock valleys. At the top of the mountain, there is a pool with clear water, sending a river, which flows around the mountain for 20 turns and into the South China Sea. On the side of the pool, there is the stone heaven palace, where Bodhisattvas come and go. Those who wish to see a Bodhisattva, regardless of their lives, climb mountains through the water and forget their difficulties. There are few people who can reach it. And the people living at the foot of the mountain prayed for help, either in the form of being in heaven, or in the form of painting ashes to comfort the people. As a result, their wishes were fulfilled.

The Putuo Luojia Mountain recorded by Xuanzang is the buta Luojia mountain, which is steep and tall, and it is difficult for ordinary people to climb. The only way to climb is to see the free Bodhisattvas coming and going here. The free Bodhisattvas often appear in heaven, or paint ashes on the outside path, to comfort the world so that their needs can be met. It is said that the Bodhisattva is the body of the Bodhisattva.

The monk doronata (1575-1643 A.D.) recorded in his famous book, the history of Indian Buddhism, that youposai was silent and the moon official, who once visited the mountain. Putuo Mountain in Zhejiang Province of China and Potala in Lhasa of Tibet are named after this. Therefore, there is one verified ashram of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva in India and two in China.

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva has great compassion all over the world, and the vitality of all living beings is reflected in thousands of rivers like the moon. Therefore, all living beings are the place where the compassion of all Buddhas is born, that is, the Avalokitesvara ashram, all suffering of all living beings is the Avalokitesvara ashram, and all living beings can worship is the Avalokitesvara ashram.
